The end of Solution Manager and the included ChaRM change management solution isn’t new news. In this blog we investigate ChaRM replacement alternatives and do so with an eye towards migration to cloud ERP and S/4HANA.
For most customers, support for ChaRM officially ends in 2027, though the actual end of support for any given implementation might be 2025, 2027, or even later in special cases depending on which version of ECC or S/4HANA and what support contracts or Cloud ERP migration commitments are in place.
Additionally, SAP has introduced Cloud ALM loaded with features and roadmap plans ideal for cloud-centric SAP customers. However, Cloud ALM is not a direct replacement for ChaRM, especially for customers with complex on-premises change management, in highly regulated environments or with custom CI/CD pipelines and integrations with external DevOps tooling.
This complexity makes ChaRM replacement a nuanced conversation.
