Dear Large Enterprise SAP User:
I don’t typically write or research for you directly – our clients are software vendors – but this one is for you.
We all know about 2027. Some of us know about 2025, which is an issue for about half of you, including some of you already on S/4HANA! But just in case you need a refresher – end of support for ECC (and some S/4HANA implementations) is looming. And the popular advice from SAP and many consultants is you should migrate and transform (reimplement) your existing solution.
Experience tells me SAP customers tend to be a savvy bunch, so I’ll leave the brown/green/blue debate to you, and I’ll bet you and many others in your situation end up making the right choice for your business.
But some of you – more than half as of now – will continue running ECC and S/4 implementations past the official end of support from SAP. Maybe you saw the 8-figures plus price tag for a full migration, or the years-long schedule, or just realized some of your couple-dozen landscapes could ultimately be consolidated or migrated in a more logical, business-friendly timeframe than SAP’s arbitrary end-of-life declaration for your otherwise perfectly working solution.
